NamibRand Nature Reserve, Southern Africa's largest private conservation area, is situated on the edge of the Namib Desert, close to Sossusvlei. The special attraction of NamibRand is its diversity of desert landscapes. Wide sands, gravel plains and endless expanses of savannah alternate with impressive mountain ranges and red, vegetated dune belts. Visitors can see larger game species such as Oryx antelope, springbok, ostrich and zebra, as well as the smaller creatures; bat-eared fox, jackal and a rich variety of birds.
Wolwedans Dunes Lodge is superbly situated in the heart of NamibRand on the top of a dunes landscape. Meals and drinks are served in the reception area, comprising a lounge and bar, a dining room and various sun downer platforms. Each of its eight spacious chalets, as well as the Mountain View Suite, has a veranda with a private, uninterrupted view of the wide-open spaces surrounding the lodge.
Whilst at Wolwedans, visitors are introduced to exciting facets of NamibRand unique terrain - by road, on foot or from the air in a hot air balloon. Naturalists learn more about the flora, the desert's fascinating creatures and the geology.
