Phinda Private Game Reserve spans seven diverse eco-systems - from towering sand forests to ilala palm veld, from open savannah to rivers and mountains. Abundant big game, including the big five, sunrise and sunset game drives in open vehicles under the guidance of trained rangers and Zulu trackers, wonderful birding and the variety of terrain ensure a superb wildlife experience. Phinda's location, a combination of true African bushveld with the close-by Maputaland coastline where the diversity of marine life rivals that of the Great Barrier Reef, means that here you are offered a unique "bush-beach" adventure.
Four lodges accommodate visitors to the game reserve. Rock Lodge lies in the south of the reserve. Its roughly hewn stone and adobe walls and wooden roofs are built into the rock face overlooking the magnificent Leopard Rock. Each of the six suites, garlanded with twisting vines, has a large bedroom with en-suite bathroom, some leading to an outdoor shower for bush bathing with an unrivalled view. Decorated in subtle ethnic moods, the suites also have their own private lounge, deck and plunge pool.
Mountain Lodge is at the top of the lush bushveld world. A sophisticated harmony of avant garde and ethnic decor, superb cuisine and warm personalised service make your time here very special. Spacious split-level suites with private lounge and en-suite bathroom all open onto your personal deck overlooking this magnificent reserve from your lofty retreat.
Vlei Lodge has stilted suites of thatch, teak and glass overlooking Phinda's unique wetland system at the edge of the forest - a favourite roaming ground for cheetah. Forest Lodge has been hand-built by the Zulu people to minimise impact on the rare sand forest.
These sixteen stilted glass chalets float between the forest floor and the towering torchwood trees. No luxury has been overlooked and the walls have become windows opening to the canopy beyond. A variety of habitats ensures a wonderfully diverse wildlife experience. Travellers feel equally content - Phinda is perfect for a blissful week of adventure and luxury.
