Giraffe Springs is one of the few camps located in an isolated and private area within Hwange National Park. The camp offers a more isolated and remote wildlife experience. Access into the camp is by air, so guests get a birds-eye-view of the camp and area on the way in. Giraffe Springs overlooks one of the park's large waterholes which usually holds rainwater naturally for most of the year. When the waterhole dries up water is pumped in to help the wildlife survive the long dry winter season. This waterhole ensures great animal activity in front of the camp - the game viewing starts right in front of your room!
Ten large tented rooms, each with a private viewing platform, overlook the plains and the waterhole in front of the camp. Each of these tented rooms is large and airy with cool tiles underfoot. Dark woods, kilims and cream drapes form a peaceful decorative scheme. You may lie in bed and, through the large windows, look out over the grasslands to watch the passing animal parade. The rooms also have an outdoor raised platform so that guests may view the game from their rooms during the quieter siesta hours.
The main living area is under thatch and includes a dining room, a sitting room, indoor and outdoor raised platforms from which to view the wildlife, and a small, refreshing plunge pool. This is big game country. Elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo and all the plains game are regularly seen close to camp. Two of the areas "specials" are roan and sable antelope - possibly the most beautiful of all the antelope. Game drives in open 4x4s and walks with an armed and licensed guide are an important part of your stay. Visits to hides allow guests to enjoy close-up game viewing quietly. Giraffe Springs makes the wonderful wildlife of Hwange a very personal experience.
