Classic Africa Safaris is a small owner/operated safari company specialising exclusively in the renowned Mana Pools National Park, offering a choice of either their scenically located Mana Pools Tented Camp or the more adventurous 3 night/4 day Mukuyu Canoeing and Walking Trail.
In the far north of Zimbabwe, the Zambezi river passes through a depression known as the Zambezi valley. In this valley is one of Africa's last wildlife strongholds, Mana Pools National Park. Designated a National Park in 1963 and securing World Heritage status in 1985, the park covers over two thousand square kilometres and boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery in Africa.
In the long dry months of May to November the open flood-plain takes on an almost park-like atmosphere, with vast herds of elephant and buffalo being drawn to the river along with kudu, eland, waterbuck, zebra and lion. One of Africa's most endangered predators, the African wild dog, is also a regular sighting - with the ever elusive leopard never far away.
Situated on the banks of the Zambezi, the Mana Pools Tented Camp enjoys stunning views across the river to the Zambian escarpment beyond. The camp has been designed so as to have minimal impact on its surroundings, and to give the visitor a feeling of being part of a truly traditional African safari - no electricity, no plumbing, and no concrete, brick or stone! Here you will go to sleep to the sounds of the African night and awake in one of the region's most beautiful settings, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the numerous birds and wild animals that inhabit this truly memorable place.
The Mukuyu Canoeing & Walking Trail along the Zambezi is still considered one of the most exciting and rewarding safari adventures in Africa. No other river in the region offers such a rich diversity of wildlife, striking scenery and effortless adventure. Each night is spent at a different location along the Zambezi, each with its scenically located and exclusive tented camp, complete with trained and experienced staff to ensure every comfort.
