Kampala Serena Hotel

The new Kampala Serena Hotel began life as the Nile Hotel, a government-run 65-room hotel and adjacent conference facility, which was built in 1975. Leased to Serena two years ago, the hotel has been closed for 18 months while, at the cost of a million-and-a-half dollar a month; it was transformed into one of Africa’s most stunning hotels.

An inspirational blend of 5-star polish and pan-African panache, this 152-room world-class hotel will showcase the cream of Ugandan culture while delivering the ultimate in personalized service, international cuisine, social style and business reliability

Spacious, sumptuous and exquisitely presented, room choices range from ‘deluxe’ to ‘executive’, and from panoramic ‘executive suites’ to impressive ‘business suites’; while the ‘Presidential Suite’ is fabulous indeed

Air conditioning in all Rooms, Large bathrooms with separate bath, toilet & shower facilities, Hair driers, In-room Satellite television, Internet access via data port and wireless internet connectivity, Direct dialing telephone with multiple lines and voice mail, Modem hook-up for Computer, Mini bar and Spacious private safe, Tea/coffee making facilities

Of the hotel’s many innovations, the bar and dining facilities are perhaps the most inspirational. On the ground floor, the relaxed Italian "Explorer" restaurant offers a uniquely off-beat tribute to Africa’s early explorers by replicating a jungle-engulfed ruined city, reminiscent of a scene from "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Nearby, the atmospheric "In the Mist" bar looks out across the lake through stands of lush-green bamboo, which suggest the misty mountain habitat of Uganda’s famous gorillas. And just beyond the pillar of water that is the central waterfall, the internationally-styled "The Lakes" restaurant suggests the watery depths of a lake, where mosaic fishes dart, weeds shimmer, and faint rays of sunlight filter down from above. Finally, on the first floor, the lustrous "Pearl of Africa" restaurant blends stark black granite with opalescent marble to create a timeless silver screen backdrop for the vibrancy of the restaurant’s world-class cuisine.

A triumph of light space and cascading water, the Kampala Serena Hotel offers a world of dining and entertaining options

A two-storey terracotta edifice traced by delicate white pillars that blossom into bud on its sun-terraced roof, "Maisha" echoes the trademark Moorish theme of its sister facility in Nairobi.

Kampala’s first and only world-class spa, "Maisha" will offer an unrivalled range of regimes complemented by luxuriant steam rooms, saunas, iced plunge pools and fountains brimming with pure mineral water.

Activities Health / Sport : Maisha Fitness Centre & Spa with: Large swimming, pool, Gymnasium, Steam rooms, Sauna, Aerobics room, Massage and treatment rooms, Golf course nearby
