Richard's Camp, owned and operated by Richard Roberts and his girlfriend Liz Fusco, has been growing from strength to strength since the year 2000 when they turned it from the Robert's family home into a small and exclusive tented camp. Richard's extensive knowledge of wildlife, flora and fauna comes from his 25 years of growing up and living in the Masai Mara.
Located on the edge a beautiful forest in the Masai Mara conservation area that his father Willy Roberts helped to create with the local Masai people, the camp itself has 6 very comfortable, individually decorated ensuite tents, 24 hour solar power, heated showers, wonderful food, open 4 wheel drive vehicles and a truly traditional tented camp atmosphere perfect as a base for exploring the Masai Mara and its magic
Richard’s Camp is situated in a conservation area North West of The Masai Mara Game Reserve. With riverine forest and short grass plains, this area is renown for the most exceptional big game viewing worldwide.
The camp is located approximately 180 kms West of Nairobi (about a 41⁄2 hour drive). We have a small airfield adjacent to the camp for private charters, or within 20 minutes drive, the large airstrip is located for scheduled air services
A traditional tented camp in true African safari style with a few modern surprises, each individually decorated tent has either twin or double beds with triple rooms available for families upon request. Our solar system provides clean, silent power and ensures 24-hour light to all the tents. All of our 6 large and spacious custom designed tents feature an en suite flush loo and heated shower.
Rarely has sleeping under canvas been made so comfortable
As the weather almost always permits, we eat all our meals outside under Kenyan skies, but for those rare rainy or chilly evenings, we dine inside, adjacent to our beautiful and cosy sitting room with its roaring fire.
Enjoy flopping on the sofa to read or just relax. At the end of the day, guests can indulge in an open-air Victorian bath tucked away in the forest, surrounded by flickering candles and the sounds of the bush.
Richard’s Camp is open all year round.
